A View From the Porch

Taken last nite at about 6:00. Like some practical joke, it's not funny. I have four locations to use my snowblower on, so every time I awoke in the night, my mind was busy, what to wear, will it start, how shall I load it in the pick-up, will Marilyn run it for me. She is a year younger than I. UPDATE: I just asked Marilyn if she'll run the snowblower. Apparently I'll be running it. Something about "life as I know it".
And God said to the farmer. "Thou raisest no livestock, and have so little to do in the winter, I shall send cold and snow to keep you uncomfortable while you and the ground are at rest AND to give you something to do". And the farmer replied, "Thanks, thanks alot". Cliff chapter 4:v.1

When I was growing up, my parents and teachers told me I should never use an N word. I think one of the reasons I'm so schitzo is because my last name begins with N. So...nothing personal, especially since I'm from Arizona.

Go back to my blog (please). I posted something new while you were reading the old this morning.

A choir director, huh?

Cliff, I can't tell you how many fingers we had to reattach because of snowblower accidents. The scenario was always the same.

"But, I turned it off first!" Something would jam the blades. They would turn it off and then stick their hand in the blades to clear the jam. The blades would clear and the torque would kick the blades back - look Honey no fingers [or hand]. This was in the Milwaukee area; and everytime it snowed and you were on call you KNEW you'd be working.

Be careful!

Isn't snow so pretty when you can stay inside all day? Hope you continue to enjoy life as you know it! :-)

That snow looks cold. Aren't you thankful you have a snowblower at least! Do snowblowers work in real wet snow too? I've never seen one, only on TV.

Looks like you got more snow than we did. Still it was surprising when I woke up.

well the rule of thumb here at my Minnesotta homestead is

summer
spring
and part of fall
Christina does the outside work

winter
The husband..

i figure he only has one season to work..granted that is about 8 months of the year..but who is counting:)

A man of such intense faith! I bet you're thankful for the technology of even having snowblowers, though!
Our deal is I play in the snow and my husband shovels it. I used to showel, but I have a tendency to be too creative(= unconventional) with snow formations. My husband laughs but our neighbors did not find it as funny. (G rated)

Well Cliff..shame on ME for taking so long to visit a fellow farmer. No snow in West Tennessee yet, but I'm sure it's on the way.

Paul; yeah I started directing our church choir for my Mom who got sick in 1977. I was to do it until she got well and came back.
She died. I'm still directing the choir and waiting for my Mom to come back.
Terah: the promise is that life as I knew it would continue. We shall see.
JD, yes we need a score keeper, although Marilyns like the Globe Trotters and I'm the senators.
Christina: you know that's not fair. Get out and scoop woman. Maybe you can delay the treadmill you spoke of.
GEL: any pics?
Well Poopie; good to hear from you. I'll stop in for a visit.

Your picture reminds me of why we live in Texas. High here 68, low last night 55. Golf tomorrow morning (high 72). Car club Christmas meeting with the early Ford V8 club Saturday (high to be 80).
I left a snow shovel in Nebraska someplace. That was before snow blowers were invented.
Nice blog, sister recommended it.

I hope we get some snow here, I would love to see a White Christmas for a change, but Texas usually doesn't come through with the snow until January!!

Dare I mention it's only 60 degrees here? Not a flurry in sight.

Hi Cliff, I thought that was water at first, guess that's because we get no practise identifying snow here in sunny Queensland.

I can't say I have ever laid in bed wondering what to wear during a snow strom. I have been known to create my own bible verses - judging by your post you have been doing it awhile as well.

Jim & Idgie:Thanks for the reminder. I have a brother inlaw in Dallas whom we try to ignore this time of year when he starts talking like that.
Mom: all you have to do is lose some of your marbles and you too could live here.
Ya know L,L,& L I'm sending some snow to Texas for all you folks.
Peter, we call it a lot of things, water isn't one of them.
Ralph:Kind of a hoby.
JD. Christina and I are with you on this one.
Christina, I don't want anything chapped.

Just help me, you're right, stay right where you are. until next summer!

Cliff,
We touched down yesterday and the pilot said it was a bit chilly in Tulsa. I walked outside and didn't need a coat. It was twenty degrees warmer than Indiana. I think them snowbirds got the right idea. And you guys have been even colder than Indiana. Stay warm, my friend.

ROFL, nice try, Cliffers. Sure I have pix of snow- but not of the creations. Actually, it's our daughters who discovered my antics and altered them. They were TAME creations, for me. We all have a healthy sense of humor. Snow is coming here very soon...
