July 1st Nebraskas new Concealed Carry gun law goes into effect.
The Omaha City Council, just last week, banned smoking in public buildings.
Is it a good idea to take cigarettes from folks and at the same time give them firearms?

Hi Cliff, that seems like a pertinent thing to wonder about to me.
Oh dear we had better watch out for the gun slinging withdrawel symptoms....!!
Take care
Not much difference between the two as they both kill...
I quit smoking 7 years ago and I have a permit to carry, so I'm only half bad.
Morbid obesity is pandemic and they've advised folks to diet. And add then there's
the whole aging-cranky population phenomenon. Look out MS-13, et al !
You'll be glad the guns are licensed. My mistake, the carriers are licensed.
These licenses can lead to regulation and huge SIN taxes to help your state finances.
Our Texas murder rates have gone down by 1/3, from 9/100,000 people to 6/100,000 since 1995, about when we started permits to carry.
Your Nebraska murder rate is slightly less than 3/100,000, so maybe it will go down to two. The gun you carry, the life you save, might be your own.
..
YOu need to chat with Frustratedwriter about the gun laws in Texas and (surprisingly) Arizona!
oh man that is a deadly combination, not allowed to smoke but allowed to carry a gun. scary, scary!!!
Try to stay away from frustrated smokers Cliff!!
What an interesting thought to ponder. Kind of like the Airlines telling you can't smoke, strapping you in and giving you caffiene, then telling you to remain calm..At least maybe the aim will be off from the shaking hands, or maybe that is a bad thing.LOL
Good point.
Living in CA for so long, I was not used to people smoking in public places, especially restaurants.
I'm still not used to smelling smoke in the restaurants here in AR. If I had a gun, I might use it to MAKE people go outside to smoke. :)
A nicotine fit and a twitchy trigger finger....not a good combo. Add PMS to the equation...someone's gonna go postal in Nebraska!
wellllllllllllllll uuuuuuuuummm maybe not,,,,,, I was gunna try and think up something reallly good ,,,,,,,,,,,,, but I can't. bye
Cliff, I would stay out of public places for a while! HA HA! No seriously, the two don't make a good combination! Concealed guns? They are ok, now? Like you can, if you have the proper permit, hide a magnum in your glove compartment? or in the trunk? We have always, as far as I can remember, been able to carry with proper permits, here in NY, but not to conceal a weapon. I believe it is still illegal to conceal a weapon intentionally. I don't know, I don't carry and don't have a permit to do so.......
PS I am back, started posting again yeaterday!
As always, a great insight Cliff! You've given me plenty to fret over as I'll be visiting Omaha in just a couple of weeks...(gulp!)
Cliff ~ Only if you live in South Dakota, Kansas, Missouri, Iowa or Colorado! At least they waited until AFTER the College World Series! ~ jb///
very good point..
Excellent point. I have a post to make on violence in your state, mine, and the country in general, but I tend to shy away from discussing politics on my blog. WHen I tone it down, I may post it.
