Election Day in Nebraska

The people in this state are quite savvy. Right and wrong, for the most part, haven't been clouded to a shade of gray, (or grey) by the politicians, lawyers, and as I call them, Academia Nuts. If you lose sight of the goal while running, and go off on some tangent, you will lose.
Our gubernatorial race has three strong candidates who have flooded the airwaves with advertisements. They have had numerous debates and speeches where they appeared at the same podium, one right after the other. I want to tell all of you that with all of these opportunities to bash each other, I haven't heard one negative comment. They have all stuck to their own ideas and have pretty much ignored the other candidates. It makes for a difficult decision. If one had gone negative, I could have at least eliminated that one.

I'm up for re-election to another 4 year term this year. In today's Primary and Novembers General Election, I am unopposed. Last election, I proved I can beat someone. (the incumbent) Now I'm anxious to see if I can beat nobody. I'll let you know how I did yesterday, tomorrow. It only took 140 and some votes to win the General last time so this could be a really low number.

Hi Cliff, found your blog through some friends and I've really enjoyed reading it. We are from Nebraska as well, I couldn't believe there was someone else from there in the blogging world! I hope you did well in the election! Hope you don't mind me browsing :)

All the political ads show the candidates strolling along and talking with farmers. I just can't get past the fact that there just happened to be a camera going right there at the farm at that exact time. How convinient. As if they really stand around in a corn field talking. Anyway, if you ever do a TV ad for your campaign, will there be film of you talking to yourself?

Cliff
All I can say is I've done my part. I have the election sign up and even this morning talked to one of Char's cousins about it.
Since you are running unopposed I just hope it doesn't end up needing a recount.

Cliff, are you like a mafia-type guy?
Is everyone too afraid to run against you for fear of the consequences?
Dan will send his daughter to beat them up with her Jack in the Box, and the only evidence that will be left at the crime scene will be tire marks left by a Mini Cooper.

I'm sure you'd win Cliff, even if you had an opponent! Our elections are a week from today.

Great comment Ralph!! LOL

Cliff,
I have full faith in you, that you will be able to beat nobody.

I like Dan's comment about interviewing farmers in the field.

Well, it's a good thing I don't use a "Mac", that is a charcoal gray or *dove* grey one...anyway, my kids call me a "pee-nut" now since my head is more hollow than my leg

If I could vote in Nebraska, I'd "draw" you on my ticket in living color. Congrats!!! :)

Congratulations, Cliff!!

I'm sure you have the count now. That is an honor in itself, not having any opponents.

A problem might be that you won't get very much practice making campaign speeches or drawing up platforms when you are unopposed.

I just stopped by checking for election results and/or any dizzy confusion over those perplexing butterfly balllots.

GO Cliff! I think that people are afraid to run against you, just as Jamie Dawn said!
