Never Before

I've lived on this farm 63 years. I've made or been a part of the drive from town down our country roads the 9 miles to the farm, countless times. But I have never, ever, seen this many lightning bugs. The corn fields, which are now all about chest high, are well lit. Marilyn says they're the males of the species trying to attract the girls.
So...I had to try but the flash light I took to bed didn't attract anyone. As a matter of fact, I now have to see if it can be fixed.

I miss fireflies. When I was growing up in Iowa and later in north Missouri, it was easy to catch enough of them to put them in a Mason jar and use it for a lantern. Now I rarely see even a single one.

Ah, lightening bugs! Some rich childhood memories there. Thanks for the smile, Cliff.

Cliff, try putting some lightening bugs in a jar and taking them to bed. There is something 'attractive' about those bright attracting bugs.

I can only think of two people that would try this. Since you already did, and it didn't work - I'm not going to get my flashlight broken.

You boys will try anything to get attention! I did notice a strange light upon the horizon the other night. I thought it was the super moon...but now I find out it was you, Cliff!!!!

Well Cliff, I gotta give you credit for trying to learn something from the lightening bugs! Too bad it resulted in a broken flashlight. Now I think Jim might have the right idea! But then again I would hate to see all those lightening bugs come to harm! LOL

I see them occasionally and enjoy it when I do. Sure brings back the memories. I enjoyed reading about Colton in the previous article. He sure has grown up!
