Cliff's Household Hints

Okay Men, let's say you're thinking of fixing that hole in the drywall and since your wife is away you've decided to surprise her by having it all done when she returns. Let me interject here that jumping on the project after only 2 and 1/2 years should be enough of a thrill.
Now let's say you've got the drywall piece you need and the mud and and the screws and all that is left to find is something to spread the drywall mud with.
The tool doesn't need to say Sears Craftsman or Stanley on the handle. Anything will work, especially if the trowels are out in the shed and it's raining.
Well I found a new, cute little trowel that my bride had purchased and I used it. It was perfect. The problem is that when she returned she didn't notice the patch job. She did however notice the trowel I had used. She wasn't happy. So here's the hint. It IS important that it says Craftsman or Stanley on it. AND it's important where you find the tools. If it's in with all of the other kichen utensils and it says Pampered Chef...it could be a 'frosting knife.'
Just so ya know.

When I got my first apartment, my mom gave me a little household tool set in a happy teal box.

When I got my first husband, he soon realized that my tools were always in the cute box and his tools were scattered all over the house. So he started using my tools. Surprisingly, my tools started being all over the house and not in my tool box.

He recently purchased me a replacement tool set. And promised to never use them without asking.

I know the knife you speak of...have one myself. It has been used for all sorts of things OTHER than frosting a cake.

Around here, I probably would have been more excited about patched drywall than frosting.

Surely you didn't Cliff? And yet you are living to tell us about it. Sometimes you just have to learn things the hard way!!

And that my friend is why... my stuff is ONLY in the basement and garages and hers is ONLY in the kitchen. She's never frosted a cake with one of my trowels... (at least that I know of)!? I do however believe that Marilyn must be a saint, because she is not telling this story for you posthumously. ~ jb///

Is this household hint coming to us from a local hospital?

Oh my goodness....you are lucky to be alive, lol! I put my name on all of my tools and hid them in the house because they keep showing up at the shop for the farm. I even had to write "FOR HOUSE USE ONLY" on my mop bucket, lol.

YOU DIDN'T! OH MY! I bet though, after she calmed down, your loving wife loved the patch job. She will forgive you in time, Cliff, I promise.

Cliff,
I think the only fair thing to do, would be to allow Marilyn to use your reciprocating saw to cut the cake (the one she can no longer frost).

I knew where you were going with that but I thought you used the cake server from your wedding. That would make a good trowel too.

Hi Cliff! It's a wonder you weren't typing this post with your toes. I know one cannot rush into any household repair without some thought, but raiding the kitchen drawers? I really shouldn't say anything about that. I have done the same myself. However, I think that a lot of unfrosted cakes are in your future. Got Milk?
Well have a good night Cliff. Lisa

I had a Pampered Chef Skinny Scraper that has disappeared. Now I'm not sure I want to find it or know what it was used for.

Excellent household hint, Cliff. Gentlemen, are you paying attention?

omg that is too darn funny!! only you would hunt thru the kitchen and use a pampered chef item which by the way they are not cheap, i have some stuff from there. so no instead of her being happy that you fixed it now you have to make it up to her by using her expensive kitchen tool!! i see shopping in marylins weekend!!

Been there, done that, Cliff!

We had this hose thing to put on our shower. I messed up on it because it fell apart and I couldn't figure out how to put it back so it didn't leak.

After a few years I got a plumber to put it on. Was Mrs. Jim happy? No way, the only thing she can remember is how long it took me to get it put on.
..
BTW, it is supposed to leak a little until the pressure builds. It gets air in the line through a hole so it can drain after it is shut off. And leaks water out the hole for a half minute when first turned on.
The plumber told me it is supposed to be like that.

When my husband started making his own biodiesel in our garage I came home one afternoon to find he had raided the kitchen for all the equipment he needed including a few Pampered Chef items. He thoughtful he was being resourceful. I was livid!

Maybe PC needs to start making men's tool sets.

BTW, why is it that women can always find their tools in their little kits but men must string them all over the place and loose them?

Gosh, Maryilyn cant leave u alone for a dang second cliff...

You desecrated the Pampered Chef??????!!
I hope you did a good job on the drywall or you're in double trouble.

Do you guys have the Pampered Chef cooking stone?
Those make some goooood pizzas.

I love Pampered Chef's garlic press. It's their best product. Maybe you should've used that one instead. :)

This was hilarious, Cliff. One more reason I wish I could attend Blogfest, to meet you folks, but it doesn't look like it's going to happen in '08. :(

Happy Sunday!

JD is right about the pizza stones, but a paving tile from the garden center is just as good for about $2.50

Jim said...

They might be cheaper than $2.50 at the garden center.
Mrs. Jim has a set of pliers she had before were married. They are in a kitchen drawer with some hot pads.
I use them to open stuck bottle lids and to put up pictures.
Somebody has lost all her screw drivers, etc.

I couldn't come back here again without saying something.
But I did want to assure you that I will be doing the 'c' thing soon. There were reasons for delaying, mainly I just didn't feel right about a few things with this doctor.
