A Conversation In The Car

On the way home from Church we had our seven year old Grandaughter with us.
Grandma: Casey, do you want to go to the shower with me at church this afternoon?
Casey: What? (said meaning, "What are you talking about?")
Grandma: You know your Sunday School teacher?
Casey: Yeah
Grandma: Well her daughter is getting married and we're giving her a shower today in the church basement.
Casey: What?
Cliff quietly aside to Marilyn: Uh you should explain to her what a bridal shower is.
Grandma: You see Casey, when some girl in our church is going to get married all of the women in the church get together to give her a shower.
Casey: Oh GROSS! (pronounced GaaaROSS)
Give me credit here, I kept it on the road.

I saw that one coming. Yessir! All the women in the church get together and clean her up real good!

Happy shower to the bride-to-be!

Oh Gaross too! I figured the poor girl wouldn't wash herself like the guy we had in the Army with us.
We threw him into the shower and scrubbed him. [I thought the whole thing, besides the gross guy, was gross and I was not a part of the we.]

Is it a grandma's duty to teach little girls to invite someone to go to the bathroom with them? And at what age?
Not many of the guys are taught that. I always shock my friends when I invite them to come along with me. ???

It is-

all relative.

That little bit of confusion has happened a couple of times in our family, along with two children at different times thinking that being washed in blood, especially lamb blood, isn't such a grand idea either! We must produce those of the strictly literal sort.

I'm sure it was hard keeping it on the road after that one! Poor Casey thinking THAT!!! LOL

English is an amazing language. As adults and or native speakers, we seldom realize how strange things sound to kids and visitors.
This one is a great example!
Lamb's blood is another...

Hi Cliff! I give you lots of credit. I don't know how you stayed on the road with this one. Lisa

Ha, ha, tee, hee, SNORT!!!
Sounds like the script for a steamy porn flick instead of the wholesome event it truly was.
Little Casey was thinking her grandma had gone nuts.
Very funny!! What a great thing to tell her about years from now. It's a good thing you've got this blog as a reminder of this great story. Kids are the greatest, aren't they? Casey is a sweetie pie for sure, and Marilyn fell right into that one with blinders on. It's a wonder you didn't run right off the road from laughing so hard.
