A View From The Porch

This 'View From the Porch' is brought to you by Marilyn. I wanted a sunrise picture and the sun comes up about 5:30 AM around these here parts. So I had Marilyn take it. My thinking was that there's no use of both of us missing sleep for my blog.
I had to 'lighten' the exposure to even be able to see the machine shed. That little tree in our front yard indicates that we've had some mighty strong south winds as of late.

This pic is of our Grandson hitting a ball in his 'coach pitch' league. About half of the players in the league are girls.
I'm showing you this for other reasons. If you'll examine the first baseline it shows one of the following:
1. Alcohol was involved.
2.Coaches should ask at least a few questions of the volunteers. As a for instance, "Have you ever done this before?"
3.Whomever put the line in, didn't see the 'foul trash can.'
4. Someone said, "A Line?" "Nah, I can do a good job without bothering with stretching a line."
5.There'll be no need to worry about a fair ball hitting one of those pesky bases. They're out of bounds on this field.
6.The hitter has a head start toward second base or the Dairy Queen. They're both west of here.
7. And finally the truth. The gal that did it was having a great deal of trouble with the machine and was too busy to worry about 'direction.' She took the good natured ribbing quite well.

It looks like Grandpa's batting practice is paying off.

Umm, I don't want to throw in any "pot calling the kettle black" analogies...but, maybe it's hard to make a straight line with the earth rotating and all....

Oh yeah Nora. I almost forgot.

I MUST go out and take some pictures! But not today!

You make me feel very guilty, Cliff!

BOTH photos are great - I love the sunrise. Pass the coffee.

That poor woman who laid down that fist baseline. There's nothing like having your mistakes displayed for all the world to see. Besides, maybe she doesn't subscribe to all that, "The shortest distance between two points is a straight line." bologna. I always liked the axiom, "If you're not making mistakes, you're not growing [or learning]."

Happy Father's Day, Cliff!

I like your thinking on the sleep subject Cliff, besides Marilyn kept the camera steady while you obviously moved it to distort that line.

Mike, the gal that put the line in was asked about it by me. She simply said "Cliff, it's tee ball, it's good enough." I agreed. I've known her a long time and enjoy her because of her sense of humor. That's also why I wasn't afraid to bring it up.
Thanks and Happy Father's Day to you and all.

Cliff, I don't comment too often here, but just had to drop by and wish you a Happy Father's Day, and hope you and the family have a wonderful time.

Thanks, Cliff, for the vote. I'm predictiing there won't be ANY YES votes. Never too late,
I did a poll of the Sunday school class (I was teaching so I could do that) and they were all mortified at the thought! Worse yet when I said that I had heard Rosie for The Price Is Right suggested on TV.
..
There is a message you missed by that Mom who laid down the line: "Cliff, next time you do it!"
In her defense, they put the 'foul trash can' there after she laid down the line.

Take me out to the sandlot... Those grown-ups sure can spoil a good game of kids' baseball, huh?

I hope whoever put down that line didn't drive home like that.

That's awfully sweet of you to have your wife wake up at the butt crack of dawn......I hope she did it today on Father's Day, then it seems a little more special ;)

Happy Father/Grandfather's day!!

I'm sure you were the one doing the "good natured ribbing" thing!! I'm glad she was a good sport about it and didn't do you bodily harm!

Thanks Marilyn for the sunrise picture!

Cliff,
I was going to ask if this gal also planted your corn. But Nora beat me to the punch.

Great minds (and farm kids) think alike!

Ha, your so funny Cliff...But I must agree, it looks as though some sort of hard liqour may have been consumed before someone got the chalk machine out;)

Thanx to Marilyn for the early morning pic.
Poor little tree has no choice but to sway with the wind.

Apparently there's a problem with that line from home base to first base.
It looks fine to me...hiccup!
