Johns Old Barn

You will meet John and Terah at Blogstock. (hopefully) John has written a masterful piece about his Grandpa's barn. Don't miss it.
John and Terah have visited here and even sang in our Church choir. Terah is a serious sounding individual with great comedic timing. When she speaks of a serious topic even, you have to listen to the last few word of her sentence. She will make you laugh.
John can speak and write on my level as witness the post above, or he could blow away the techiest folks you know.
He has written several books and this page might explain some about him. It's hard to find computer folks who grew up on the farm and that I can relate to. When John talks of the family and the old farm he's as down home as you can get. When he talks of programs and new equipment he might get 5000 readers on one post. I've read some of those posts. I could just as well be reading Chinese.
His wife Terah also blogs. You'll find her linked on his blog. You'll also find her to be a serious Mom, and Social worker, and she is cutting edge witty. Her only fault is her love for Dr Pepper with Cadbury eggs at Easter time. Well that and her Underwear Rotation.
Their son just turned one. He will probably begin blogging soon. I should be able to understand him up until he is 6 or 7 years old.
You will enjoy getting to know this family before we get to Blogstock.

Hey Cliff...Your comment "Her only fault is her love for Dr Pepper with Cadbury eggs at Easter time." well that's not a fault! That's something that would look good on her profile. (By the way)... when's the baby due! Just kiddin' But I am serious about this next comment... "GO BIG RED!" ~ jb///

Thanks for the nice words, Cliff! Blogstock is on our calendar! I also think this post of John's is excellent. I've read it several times because I liked it so much.

That underwear rotation just keeps coming back to haunt me. Honestly, lots of people have admitted to me that they do it, they just won't admit it to the world.

Hi Cliff,

Thanks for the nice words.

Stories like this really are my favorite. They don't get read as much as the technical topics, but they mean more to me.

We're planning to be there for Blogstock!

Oh, and I just checked, and Terah's system is the #1 hit on Google for "underwear rotation"...

If you speak highly of them then we know they are top notch Cliff! I remember when they came to visit you & Marilyn and sang in the choir.

I would be lost on the tech talk. I'll check out his piece about his Grandpa's barn. Look forward to meeting them at Blogstock.

Cliff, I just read your comment on my post with the "dingy."

I sure needed that laugh!! Loved the blonde joke too!! You crack me up Cliff!!!

It's been a rough week so I really needed that knee slapper! Thank you.

I will have to monitor my posts, so if you ever decide to link to me, you will have to choose a more begning search term than "underwear rotation".
I hate to think what might be lurking there already...
("useless elipses" springs to mind for some odd reason...)

Cliff ~ I was not able to see the game, but I did listen to it while it was on. I would say that 52-10 is a decent score for a NEW QB. What about that Marlon Lucky guy... WOW! He's NOT LUCKY... he's down right talented. Marlon TALENT is his new name from now on. ~ jb///

Well, Cliff, it must be raining up there again. Something has kept you from the fields so that you can write posts TWO DAYS IN A ROW! Wow!

We will be there for Blogstock '08. Adi will come also. Do you know a good place where we can board her? We were told at the Super 8 Blair not to come back anymore with our dog.
Oh yes, the Oakland motel takes people with dogs, Adi can come afterall.

You are using big words today. I haven't met Terah but I read her blog. When you use those big words I have trouble telling if things are good or bad. Like "commedic."
I looked "comedic" up in Widipedia and found out it means something funny ends things when it appears you are telling a serious matter.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comedic_device
Here is their "List of comedic devices:"

Double entendre
Hyperbole
Mistaken identity
Monocle
Prank call
Pun
Slapstick

Of course you know all these. I might be (I won't admit I am) familiar with 'prank calls.' Really, 'pun' is about the extent of my knowledge, but I 'have heard' of 'slapstick.'

Maybe I should learn these and try them out. Perhaps in my blogs? I used to write nice poems after I read about types of devices and rhyme used in poetry.
After I get good at something, I go on to something else.
That's me.
..
Oh yes, Mrs. Jim doesn't read that blog. She doesn't like clicking on ducks.

In case you forgot, that last paragraph was in reply to your remark regarding Mrs. Jim knowing, and my picture with the lady walking in the rain in her shorts.
Thanks for the comment.

Thank you for the link to the barn story. I'll admit to checking Terah's blog more often, I usually feel like a fraud reading John's technical stuff. I'm looking forward to meeting the fellow Boilers at Blogstock.

The barn story was terrific. I love hearing the history of barns. I have a square nail from my great-grandparents barn and a big ball of twine from my great-uncle Herman's (Nora's brother) barn on my mantel.

Hi Nora,

Thanks for the comments. I picked some square nails out of the rubble from this barn, too. There was also one piece of wood siding with the red paint still on it that I managed to save also, and a few other pieces of metal and wood.

I haven't quite figured out what to do with them yet.

Loved you post and the links... I remember playing at my Aunt Albina's farm in Minnesota as a child... and I got a laugh out of the "underwear rotation" post... never heard of that before! I think someone is far more organized that I could ever hope to be!

I have actually written a post!

I look forward to meeting them. I'm sure their son is going to be witty and brainy. That's a great combination!!
