Jump--Jump

I drove about 70 miles last thursday to a board meeting. I spoke out against what I thought was wasteful spending. They wanted to buy a near new building. It was much too large for our needs in my opinion and $600,000. I might have been too vociferous because I had two reporters call me yesterday from two different newspapers.
*******
I saw something yesterday that has had me chuckling every time it crosses my mind. In a nearby town there is a trampoline, near a house, on a steep sidehill.
"Mom, can I go out and jump twice on the trampoline?"
Or if they ever sell the ad will say- For Sale: Trampoline. Like new condition. Used only for short periods, usually just two jumps at a time.

Cliff, my husband went to a meeting about the planes flying over our neighborhood and making too much noise. He commented that when you buy a house near an airport that that could happen. TF and I think they are making a mountain our of a mole hill. They accused him of being a spy for the airport committee. He got a good laugh out of that.

The lady with the trampoline will probably get a good sale from her "honest" advertising...lol

You are getting popular after these board meetings Cliff!! It's good there is still someone around brave enough to speak up to try and save some money. Unfortunately folks don't always listen. As my Dad would have said, "They want to bore with too big of an auger."

I have never tried jumping on a trampoline and if I did I'd want it to be on level gound. After all, when I fall off I don't want to keep rolling.

Mom, it is jump twice on the trampoline and jump once off the trampoline, I won't be long.

I won't be critical, but I believe the road from your house to town is a 50 mph gravel road. It takes practice to stay on those at 70, especially in the snow.
..
Oh yes, was it the Blair paper for the other one? I talked with a Herman person last night for an hour or so, you are well known over there too in Washington County.

I have an incline on my side yard, that is where the kids suggested that I put a trampoline, now I know why my logic has prevailed! Glad that you are a responsible government official Cliff, someone needs to be the voice of reason when overspending is killing all of us! Keep up the good work, and give those reporters your famous wisdom, like we all know you can!

LOL at that trampoline story. I wish there were more Cliff Morrows to speak up about wasteful spending and other related topics. .... for example, that "Field Mice" are NOT an endangered species and do not require a government bureau [translation: tax dollars] to act on there behalf.

Thanx for my morning laugh - I'm still grinning.

There are TWO different newspapers in corn country?

I hate the idea of buying the wrong sized building or buying if you don't need to.

Yet another not-for-profit is closing in Indianapolis because they expanded and bought property too soon.

Vociferous??
Them reporters called yew fer usin' them big words.

I bet the wife set up that trampoline and asked her husband to go and show the kids how to use it.

Hi Cliff! Good for you that you spoke out against wasteful spending. I work for government and I still don't understand their thinking and spending methods. Who do they think is going to pay for all nonsense? Well have a good day. Lisa
