BROKEDOWN MOUNTAIN
Starring CLIFF'S COMBINE. Four sizable breakdowns in two days. I didn't pay for a new combine but I'm buying one Johnny Cash style. One Piece At A Time.

Bad news.
On the positive side this post saved me a phone call.
Ralph
To bad about your combine! I bet this freed you up to watch the Huskers. AS you can see I am not wathcing right now- it's unbearable, I can see the TV from here and we did make a touchdown.
Sorry about that Cliff. Hope you get it fixed soon and it's not too steep a price for those new parts!
oh Cliffers, that just plain bites!
Hope your luck improves!
Love it!!! I know exactly what you mean. That is why the hubs wants me to drive a newish vehicle. He works on the equipment all day sometimes, lol. And speaking of the combine, good lord I think it is on its last hoorah. We drove to Charlotte the other week, to pick up more parts because it was going to take another day to get it to the house from up North somewhere. Want to know the kicker.... we all know it is time to trade it in, but with the market as is it is not even an option right now.
I've bought a couple of pickups that way.
I thought I saw A guy with a shiny new stainless steel combine the other day. Turns out it was just where the John Deere Green was worn off.
Hey, look at it this way, "Before too long you will have a new combine."....lol.
I had a station wagon once that had its first major disaster at less than 500 miles. It was NEW. sigh.I mean, new, new. I was away at grad school and had to keep it going by dumping a bottle of power steering fluid in it each day until I got home. I kept that thing for many years because it was always part new - if you know what I mean, and I see you probably do.
But a combine - bless your heart - and you can't get the parts at WalMart, either. Poor thing!
Are you implying that there is some other way to purchase farm equipment that piece at a time?
Your combine sounds a lot like our Volvo.
Good grief!! That car of ours is milking us dry!!!
Don't these dang machines know that we've got OTHER stuff to pay for??!!
Keith, Taylor, and I have all cast our votes for the McPalin ticket. Courtney, the slacker, did not request an absentee ballot in time, and we do not partake in voter fraud, so her vote will not be cast. If McCain loses by one vote, blame her.
Ah, man!! When it rains it pours .... wasn't that the last post. Sorry about that, Cliff. I hope you've turned the corner on these misadventures.
Well JD, there is plenty of voter fraud but it's being accomplished by the 'chosen' party so there are no reporters with enough courage to report. They would get tossed from the plane.
Get used to it. All of our rights are in danger unless you're an acadamia nut. Then you'll be as happy as a lark while they shred the constitution over the next four years.
At least we'll be able to forget Jimmy Carter's presidency.
I feel your pain. We've broke down twice in the last 3 days. Now, gotta replace a belt.
Just 20 acres to go.
Nice weather though!
Sorry about your breakdowns. Hang on to that great sense of humor.
I had an old Ford LTD that I bought three times, part by part. My sympathies, Cliff.
We know the feeling...things are breaking down here one by one but on a much smaller scale. I am glad we don't own any combines because I would be pulling my hair out.
Hope ya got the right part
I'm sorry about your combine. Of course I always have advice [Ask Dr. Jim (blog)].
1. Be sure to count your cost before you do next year's. It might be less expensive to hire it done. (and easier on you)
2. It's cheaper to buy a whole combine than by the total of its parts.
3. Johnny Cash got rich doing his, you need an agent.
That really is too bad. Is the price of grain still up or did it go down with the petro prices?
..
Yep Dan, that WAS the correct part. Thanks. We were running by 11 AM.
Do they have a punch card at the parts store? Buy twelve, get the thirteenth free?
McCain lost, and now Palin is being trashed.
Sarah Palin is marvelous, and I have high hopes for her future prominence in politics.
Meanwhile, I will pray for President Obama and for our nation. In God We Trust is still on my money, and I will still trust in God... even if it gets taken off my money.
I hope your Brokedown Mountain woes have subsided.
Hello to Marilyn and all the family!!!!
The main stream media is still threatened by Sarah. And they should be. They were unable to dispatch her for good. They will have to keep up with the attach.
wow, that really sucks..
sorry cliff!..
dang..
