Let's Cut Ol' Cliff Down to Size

I accompanied my Bride on a trip to a neighboring town to deliver a load of freshly groomed dogs last evening. On the way I was listening to Union Station. They are the band often found in the company of Allison Krause.
I was in my little dream world, the one where I'm singing or playing to ten thousand screaming fans. At the end of one my favorite songs from the CD I said, "Someday, when Union Station calls me, I'm going to leave you and the farm and go on tour with that band." (This is more unlikely than you think if you know that I can't play an instrument AND I have trouble singing anything but the melody.)
After a pause that lasted about an eighth of a mile, and while staring straight ahead Marilyn said, "I'll bet they've already got a truck driver".
I tell ya, I get no respect.

Cliff
Another dream shattered. Yesterday must have been the day for it. My golf instructor choked pretty severely on his water when I told him I had to ready for the Senior Masters in just a couple of years. I think Nate was also laughing in the background.
You have to love Marilyn’s wit.

Cliff,
You pitch 'em. Marilyn hits 'em out of the ballpark.

No problem here, Cliff. She's just keeping you in your place, the farm.

Hi Cliff -- thanks for your words this morning. I changed it, maybe for the better.
Not one item in that post is true, so probably spoofing about the meat company also would fly.
I take that back, the part about the 'home baked pie' in Presho, S.D. was true, the restaurant this time was stretching the truth.

Cute one Cliff. I love Allison Krause and Union Station. I know what you mean about singing in the car and dreaming that it's before a huge audience and they are loving it.

Looks like you are going to have to get up pretty early in the morning to stay ahead of Marilyn!! That was a great comeback!

Bravo Marilyn, great comeback.

I love the idea of a truckload of freshly groomed dogs to be delivered in town.

Annie and Sammi have a groomer who picks them up and delivers them back. She says my doxie is like a Hoover. The moment Sammi gets in the car, she starts cleaning up all the crumbs the children have spilt over the past week.

I LOVE Marilyn!

I noticed she didn't have any objections to you going away though.

Happy 4th, Cliffers, Marilyn, and entire clan! Mr. Escape Artist and I were not able to escape to your state (or anywhere), but our daughter had a walloping terrific time at the International Thespian Festival recently! (She couldn't have any visitors or I would have emailed you.) It's a mixture of workshops, attending shows, and generally busy all day and night long!

Man, I wish I could come up with comments like Marilyn does. It usually takes me several days before I have a comeback. Yea, Marilyn!
