Congratulations!

Congratulations are in order for those of you from Indy. Nora, and Jerry, and Marty and probably others I'm unaware of. I wish the rain hadn't had an effect on the game but I think absent that, the result would still have been the same.
I was tickled by the ceremony after the game where Peyton Manning was named the most valuable player of the Super Bowl and given the prize, A BRAND NEW CADILLAC. Quite a prize it would have been for say...a farmer or just about any other person in America. The fact that I had just read about Peyton signing a 7 year contract and signing bonus worth a reported $98,000,000 made me think that it was equivalent to me winning $10 at a casino. Nice but not worth talking about.
I'm sure that tomorrow we will read about Peyton giving the car to someone or some organization in need. I do think he is that kind of guy. It just seems crazy to give millionaires playing football a prize of monetary value. How about money to charities of their choosing.

I can't fathom awarding a millionare with a car.
I suppose he can have someone raffle it off and donate the money to charity.
Have a wonderful day!

I have nothing to say about Super Bowl, unless it's the one you've been drownin' those cats in, just want to see if I'm still anonymous.

I enjoyed the game...terrible conditions to play in though. Loved Prince's performance at half time.

Great spectacle the Superbowl...I watch it each year...it's a tradition of mine! I love that video at the beginning about Peyton Manning.

Even without Janet Jackson, it was OK.

I think you are right about it being like giving one of us $10. No big deal for someone who makes that kind of money.

With the temp. 7 degrees there (from your sidebar I saw this) I hope you have on 3 layers of clothing! It is 18 here right now.

Big parade and rally downtown Indy today at 4pm. Since it is currently 4 degrees, I think I'll pass. Guess you could call me a fair-weather non-fan.

The Yawn Bowl.

Or, as Maxine, the cartoon characteress has said, "The only super bowl I'm interested in is a toilet bowl that cleans itself."

Hey, thanks for the lead to Lee's site. I haven't finished her story yet.

This was the first year I was "into" the Super Bowl. Peyton was playing for UT-Knoxville, when I was at school in Kentucky (UK)
I really like him and their coach (coach's speech was awesome btw, I thought)

It does seem riduculous to give any professional athlete a new anything.....give me the new Caddy, that's what I say :)

It was a great game. I've never seen anything like it - so many turn arounds. And it sure didn't end like it started.

Your right, the "BRAND NEW CADILLAC" was tantamount to a "FRUIT BASKET". :)

I watch the Super Bowl each year mostly because I enjoy the commercials which unfortunately this year were mostly dreadful.

I agree completely with Mike. That brand new cadillac compares to a fruit basket when you have as much money as Peyton.

Although I don't watch the Super Bowl, $ to charities is a great idea, Cliff.

We watched the Super Bowl. Glad Peyton got a win and a ring. Commercials were not that good. Best part had to be the Buffalo Wings.

Hmm...we call it the "stupor" bowl. Think of how many folks could eat off of the money paid out in sports and entertainment contracts.

Giving it to a charity would be fine. Can we get in line if you pull it off?
I missed the Ford commercials.

Cliff,

Thanks for dropping by. The neighborhood still has me but everyone else left.

That worked didn't it! :)

How's Marty - haven't heard from him in ages!

I friend of mine took this great photo at the rally yesterday.
I do love that the team is grounded in civility.
Don't get me started on the Pacers!

I was thinking about the Caddy last night also. Of course it would be great if he donated it to charity (you can reach me at Second Helpings, Peyton), but I would also love to see him proudly drive it around town.

Peyton started the PeyBack Foundation in 1999 and has distributed 1.3 million to youth groups.

I like your idea, Cliff. That way the athlete can not look any greedier than they are. I shouldn't say that about Manning though, he seems to be a good one at heart. I just mean athletes in general, the pros. I enjoyed the commercials and the company. We went to one of my best friends' house and spent it there with her family and with another one of my best friends and her fiance. 4 out of 5 of our kids are around the same age, poor Patrick is the oldest and caught somewhere in between the adults and the kiddies. He hung out with us though, and was fun. We are "Prince era" folks, so we enjoyed the 1/2 time show too!

Football, Schmootball! I don't use it.

I hope the rich football player gives the car away and also gives away a big chunk of change to those in need.
