Final Day

This is my final day as president of Northeast Naco. (Nebraska Association of County Officials) I called the secretary of our organization yesterday to inquire as to the status of the preparations. She said we have at least 215 folks for the meeting. I'm running it. I should have prepared something. But on the other hand the drive is an hour and a half and that's enough time to come up with something that will be remembered until, oh, about 4 pm.
Let's see, Four score and .....

Cliff,
Can you get me some free Premium Crackers before you step down? Wait a minute. Naco? I was thinking Nabisco. Nevermind.

I'm sure you'll knock 'em dead. But don't be too good or they'll just vote you in again.

Now that you're an ex president, I suppose you'll never get to take a vacation without the secret service anymore...

Well, Cliff, what is the use of having secretaries if they expect you to do all their work.
If Marilyn is or J. is riding with you they can whip up a little levity. No, scratch that, you have the levity, let them figure the serious stuff.
Really we all know you've been a good pres!

Cliff
I guess I am shocked by the light turn out - with you running it and having watched you have the crowd eating out your hand and your humor I thought more people would show up. (I'm serious).
Here is a little trade secret I recently learned, you might already know it, when asked to say a few final words go into detail about how you have already started to the fill the void getting off the board will cause in your life. Talk about checking into this or that opportunity and working with this or that group (even if you have to lie) otherwise they will try and saddle you with every project known to mankind that no one else wants to do - because you have some free time since you are no longer President.

Naco, huh? I used to hang around in the little town of Naco when I was a kid. It's in Arizona on the Mexican border, not far from Bisbee. See, Cliff, we have a lot in common.
