I Was Afraid Of This

We have used the same local attorney since we were married. I called them last week and ordered a little work for them to complete for my corporation. In today's mail I received a letter from them with a cover letter and copies of what they had done.
It was on their letterhead with my address and name at the top left of the letter. Instead of starting with Dear Cliff, it began Dear Golkd.
I began laughing. I was by myself in the house and always feel silly laughing by myself. I first checked to see if I were to place my hands on the keyboard, on the wrong keys, if I could duplicate the mistake. Nope.
So the following went through my mind. In small communities we know a lot of people or at least know all about them. Nicknames are handed out at random for certain bodily characteristics or a play on their name or an embarrassing event they caused. Sometimes folks don't know about their nicknames. I never knew if I had a nickname or not. Until now. My attorney's secretary apparently doesn't know the small town rules. You aren't supposed to tell. See you later.
Love, Golkd

That’s like the woman who became indignant reading her progress notes. As instructed, she followed-up with her family physician after an emergent hospital stay. She flipped through her chart when her doctor left the room to take a call. “56 y/o female c/o chest pain, nausea and palpitations - SOB [short of breath].” ;)

Have a good weekend!

Google helped me a lot with your dilema:

Golkd is an Indian--from India--name. Maybe your lawyer is outsoucing his para-legal and secretary stuff to India.

Golkd Inkjet Paper is German.

Who knows where the secretary's mind was or had been?

DJ CarudaHouzecrushers - Toch Me (Samx & Golkd UK Dub). Hoxton Whores - Lost In Ibiza. Granite & Punk - My Heart (Seamus Haji & Paul Emaunel) ...

In some languages it means Gold. That may be a Freudian slip for what they think of you around rhe office, you are their golden egg laying goose!

Hey Golkd! I'm not sure how to pronounce that so I'll continue to call you Cliff. Deal?

I like Jim's take on it too!! My husband told me the other night that I wasn't worth my weight in gold. (I know better though!) Maybe your lawyers think you are!

Maybe you could sue the attorney for "defamation of nickname."

Golkd?
What language is that?
I think it must be a Klingon term meaning Great One.
Ask Marilyn about that, or she may have another definition of Golkd to toss out there.

A friend of mine was telling me about the nicknames of a few people in his village who were always attending their doctors with miscellaneous physical conditions. They were collectively known as The Collapsables.

lol, Cliffers! At first I thought someone typed your name with their fingers on the wrong keys, but that doesn't make sense (typing wise.)

loved the part about nicknames in your town and people not knowing them. It's been VERY hard not to spontaneously type what "Golkd" could stand for. I'm remembering this is a public blog and I need to limit that creativity to my own blog. ;)

Another funny story. I always like reading what you come up with.

I think it could be a typo, if your name was Cilf. The o is next to the i, the l next to the k, and the d next to the f. So some keyboard mis-positioning, and letter transposing, and it's at least somewhat plausible.

Or maybe this has been your nickname for years.

Trouble is, there's no way for you to find out, right? If it was a nickname, people would deny it, I'm sure!

I might stay with the Dear Cliff. I can't even pronounce Golkd.
