I'm On The Governing Board...

of our local senior center. It is a well run institution. It is that way because of all of the volunteers that help in every aspect of the program and facilities. They give selflessly when ever asked to do something by our director or staff.
This week is Volunteer Appreciation Week.
In that light they decided to have a party this afternoon to honor and thank all of those volunteers. They asked me to speak/entertain. I did. It went well.
But now I just don't know how much to charge for doing that. : )
An Addendum: I woke up yesterday morning and at 4:30 AM sat on the edge of our bed and began quietly chuckling about this potential blog. Marilyn wanted to know what could possibly be funny at 4:30 in the morning. I told her what I was going to write. I said "Get it?" "Charging to speak to volunteers?" As she drifted back to sleep I heard her mumble "You are a sick man."
Oh well. You guys could have told her that.

Way to go, Volunteer Cliff!

That senior center is a good place to eat. We need to be sure Ralph puts the schedule on the 'hit list.'

Charge an arm and a leg (of pork or beef).
..
I hope you can get some corn planted, our weather person says terrible storms are going through up there tonight.

Your weather person is correct. It's been raining most of the day.

That IS funny, now that you mention it. Charging to speak to volunteers, lol. I saw your comment, and yes, you can add my blog and mention it. :)

I'm not old enough to go to a senior center (I'm only 76), but when I am, I hope there's someone as entertaining as you to come speak to us.
Volunteer Appreciation Week is a good idea. They really deserve a little appreciation. They're good people.

Well Cliff, I don't what to say, except that I agree with Marilyn. I also agree with Bobbie. To bad you don't live around here. It would never be boring. Lisa

It's a good thing you put that addendum in there, I was beginning to wonder what kind of "volunteer" you were. Did you get the corn in?

I'm glad you entertained them Cliff. I'm sure they got some chuckles from you during your speech!

I agree with Marilyn and Bobbie.

Hi Cliff,

Thinking about blogging at 4AM? Organizing an event called Blogstock? I think you might want to read this comic.

(Note: LiveJournal is a type of blog)

Well, how much did you rake in?
Did you get paid by the joke or per minute?

It's just after 1 a.m., so I cannot be held responsible for anything I write in the comment's box. I've been waiting for a call from Taylor who is in Memphis with a couple of friends. They are attending Memphis In May which is a three-day concert event. Well, the concert doesn't last three days, but there are many concerts over the three day period. Taylor is required to call.
Taylor called and is on his way to IHOP. I can go to sleep now.
What was this post about??
Oh yeah, Marilyn is correct.
Hooray for volunteers!

I stirred up a hornet's nest in Blog Church.
It's fun to do that once in awhile.

The Chatt Center is an AWESOME Senior Center no less. The Seniors in the area are VERY lucky to have such a set up.

I'm like bobbie... not old enough to attend the senior center Cliff, but you do make me laugh quite often so if that's sick well you qualify.

Cliff
This reminded me of the time my ex boss and I were on a volunteer board and things were not going well. I told him we could solve the problem by firing the whole bunch of them. He told me you can't fire volunteers. Yet. . .
By the way, I could have told Marilyn that.

Dear Jamie Dawn

There is a new TV program (new to me at least) with a character from Hooper, Nebraska.
I would like to know the role of the character and whether or not Cliff Morrow has ever met her.
The program is 'Back to You,' the episode was 'The New Boss.' It was on Fox in the 7:30 PM CST time slot.
Thank you.
Jim

Good one, Cliff.

And if you're a "sick man", what does that say about Marilyn? :)
