Lovely day. Steady light to moderate rain. Forty degrees. North wind @ 35 to 40 mph. We are at 2" of rain and counting.
The lower fields were already too wet. We'll likely have to wait for the ground to freeze to finish harvest. After Christmas. But look at the bright side... okay, there isn't one.
This all reminds me of the two farmers talking: "If it keeps raining so we can't harvest, I'm going to need to rob a bank."
The other farmer replies: " If it keeps raining, I've already robbed a bank."
All I can say is "Put your hands up!"

Cliff, hope the weather starts to cooperate for you....it was hideous here last weekend, so I guess you are going to send your rain to us =in time for the weekend as predicted! The weathermen are calling for something close to a monsoon! (For Saturday) Just stopping by to say Hi, and to let you know am still here! HOpe everything else wis well with you!
Sorry to hear that Cliff. Weather here isn't any better. We'll all keep you in our thoughts and prayers. Marilyn too as we all know how you get when you are house bound to long. PLEASE PEOPLE - pray for Marilyn!!!!
Thanks for the heads-up, RALPH! Marilyn, we've got your back.
Have you read the book KEEPING THE MEN OUTSIDE IN BAD WEATHER? I haven't even heard of it but if there is one I'd like to buy it. I can't write it because I don't know the answers. Maybe Marilyn and I could collaborate. It would be a best seller.
It's no better here, either. I hope it changes for you soon, Cliff. I'll put my hands together and bow my head for you.
Well, Cliff, your weather came down here and got us! But that's okay, we don't have corn to pick.
We don't have Facebook, yet. Mrs. Jim may to see what her friends are up to. But I doubt that too.
I DO NOT LIKE Facebook's marketing. It is all closed unless you join. And everybody wants you to join so you can be their friend. I don't think that is the good old American way, nor King James either.
Most of my kids and grandkids have it, I have a MySpace page and account to keep up with them and now they have pulled out.
..
Cliff ~ Cute joke... or is it a joke? We thought about you as we took off for Minnesota two weeks ago (as it was snowing). We wondered if you had the corn harvested by then? I think I know what you'll be up to today! GO BIG RED! ~ jb///
So sorry Cliff, I know that is frustrating!!! It got hot here, 79 degrees over the past few days. Had to turn the AC back on last night in the house. We were supposed to get a huge rain storm and we were going to go to the mountains over the weekend. Guess what? It didn't rain yesterday at all, and barely today. So no go, lol. Back into bean harvest full swing tomorrow.
I feel for you. We got rain, rain, rain and some more rain just in time to royally screw up harvest. Beans are still standing and corn is still green (ish).
So sorry you are having so many problems with the weather up there... Please don't rob any banks, I don't want to tell any lies when they ask me if you did it.... OK? Keep praying, maybe your crops will survive the deluge...
It sounds awful. I wish I had something pithy to say, but I don't. Hang in there...
Sorry about your weather Cliff. It's been pretty nice here over the past few days. I had to laugh at Ralph's comment!! His pity is more for Marilyn than you!!
I might be one of those friends waiting on Facebook. No feelings hurt here. I don't keep up with it. I have hard enough time keeping up with blogging as it is!
Folks need to be careful about putting too much info on Facebook and Twitter, or anywhere for that matter. There are way too many people out there that look for every opportunity to scam us. I just got an e-mail about that today. Maybe I'll forward it to you.
Cliff, I just got it. I know, a little slow. But does he mean he already robbed a bank because he won't be able to pay back his operating loan?
Exactly Shannon.
Usually they say if it doesn't rain I'm going to have to rob a bank.
answer: If it doesn't rain....
Hi Cliff -- I wanted to share this with you. My British Gardener blogging friend, Bob, has posted an article about a balance plow.
At a field event he got to operate one. I think in farming time it was in between horses and tractors.
At each end of the field a steam engine pulls a plow back and forth across the field with a cable.
Had you know of these?
He has a video of him operating it on this blog,

We're water logged here too. Our weekend is supposed to be really nice though, so that's good.
I plan to partake in some Halloween candy whether it is sunny or not.
Courtney is dressing up as Annie Hall, and Taylor is going to be a pirate. They will hang out with their friends tomorrow night.
The Reverend will be a reverend, and I bought a blinking jack-o-lantern necklace. Woo Hoo! Fun times here in AR!!!!!
The fall colors are sure pretty, but I'm dreading the arrival of winter weather. I hate cold weather. Keep any and all snow up there with you, okay? Thanks.
Enjoy the grandkids and have a nice Halloween weekend.
I like comin' here when you talk weather issues. Not many people understand it. I remember one late June when we were looking at loosing every single strawberry by that time not to mention haying wasn't looking very promising, had some country-city folk over and they got all up in our grill because we were saying we needed dry weather. Said we shouldn't complain, that the rain was just so lovely. People sittin' all cozy in offices and sippin' at Starbucks have no real idea what weather means to those of the dirt.
