Eleven months out of the year I complain to Marilyn about this overgrown bush. It obstructs the southern view from our closed in deck/sunroom. I often threaten to pull the loader tractor up and throw a log chain around it's base and drag it out of there.
The color the bush turns in the fall... is the bush's way of telling ol Cliff...to shove it.

Leave it alone! Evidently Marilyn likes it and it does have a nice color one month out of the year. If you rip it out it could cost you $25 in diesel fuel and several thousand for a divorce lawyer.

It is a very beautiful shrub and I love the colour. Just give it a nice trim.

Glad you are still going to read my blog.

Take care xx

Didn't we have this discussion last year Cliff? just leave the bush alone, you look after the farmland and let Marilyn look after the garden.

I think you might trim it and still enjoy the bush and have a better view! Then everyone is happy as two peas in a pod.

Cliff, I thought you were going to cut that bush way back and replant it out of the way a long time ago?

Wow. That is beautiful.

Cliff, you could have tipped me off and it could have been the victim of a freak mowing accident. I can be bribed.

Sorry Cliff, I am on Marilyn's side...this bush is lovely. What kind is it?

Cliff, we have two of those bushes, Scott clips them back at the beginning of the summer and near the end. When we came back from North Carolina in July, they were both as tall as the house, and growing rapidly! There was an extreme humid, hot spell while we were gone, and it made the pool green and the vegitation grow grow grow! I love the color of yours, ours just turn orangey, lovely, but the firey red is fabulous!

I think this is a burning bush. The leaves are green but in the fall they turn this lovely red color. I used to have one on each side of my driveway where I lived before and they were huge.

I liked Jerry's comment!! Sneaky fellow he is!!!

I'm about to give up on commenting on people's blogs. I've gone back to several blogs the last few days and my comments are gone.
I had put a comment here on my own blog that the bush is a 'burning bush' and the link to wikipedia for the scientific name which I think was Euonymus Alatus. And of course it's gone. Go figure.

Here in PA we also call them burning bushes. My Dad loved them so much he got one out of the woods behind his house and planted it by the house. And now it belongs to someone else. So sad. But everytime I see one I think of him.

As for me? I'm at the end of my rope with all the Bush controversy. Honestly, 'keep Bush', 'get rid of Bush'.... it just never ends!

It's a beautiful bush. And I think we have a small one in our yard that someone gave us. It's quite small, but I have hopes that it grows to be large.

That anomyous comment was from me. I guess I just hit the wrong button.

Well Cliff I wondered why you hadn't been commenting on my blog.
I was beginning to think you had forgot all about me/my blog. At least it let you post a comment on your own blog!

Looks like you might get snow showers tomorrow. Here it is a wonderful 70's sunny day. But that will change soon!

It is a variety of Euonymus, also known as "burning bush," for its fall colors. There are about 150 speciesl; typically the shrub cultivated as an ornamental is "Euonymus alata" amd is native to Asia.

In many states, it is considered an invasive plant by state authorities, especially in the east and west coasts. It is spread by birds eating the berries in the fall.
