Thanks!

Your prayers (and ours) worked. Marilyn and I thank each and everyone of you. I believe that prayers are answered one way or the other.
The surgeon met with me at about 10:00 A.M. And I quote, "Well, that was easy. Everything was as we expected it would be."
They used a 'twilight sleep' type of product and blocks on her spine and the leg. She woke up with no fog, but it took about 3 hours for the spinal to wear off and the leg was just waking tonight as I left a good 12 hours later. That is planned for and helps to eliminate any severe pain immediately following the procedure.
She has stockings that squeeze and massage both legs periodically, a mechanical drain, a passive motion machine, a pressurized ice water jacket, and drugs, all to fight the onset of bloodclots which the Dr says is our #1 enemy. The usual machines to measure vitals are working and after staring at her heart monitor all day, I'm going to take my fishing pole with me tomorrow when I go visit. I'm pretty sure I saw schools of catfish at the bottom of that screen.
I don't know where to buy nightcrawlers this time of year so I'm going with chicken livers.
Thanks again.

At first I thought you said she has a 'a mechanical brain.' I probably couldn't tell the difference between that and the 'a mechanical drain' anyway, I've never seen either.

I told my knee doctor that he already had too many BMWs so he didn't need to keep so many paitents and stay so busy.
He said that the reason I had to be put off so long for my appointment was that he went to NYC for a doctor convention first.
And then his dad sprang for a week in Bermuda for the dad's whole family.

While you're down here for worms you can get my crutches and take them to Marilyn
Best wishes for her speedy recovery!

^5! and a big smile. I'm glad everything went well. That was an EXCELLENT anesthesia protocol (midazolam), btw - a tribute to quality care. Give Marilyn my best and wish her well with rehab.

You two take care. ;0)

So glad that all went well. Give Marilyn a big kiss from me in NY! I hope that the recovery period goes as smoothly as the surgery. Keep us posted, and don't bring that fishing pole, they might not allow chicken livers or night crawlers in the room. They aren't immediate family now, are they?

Marilyn,
Way to go! Stick with the physical therapy and you'll be on the mend really soon. I hope when you say "Jump" Cliff says, "How high?"

Take care (of each other), you two!

Yee-haw, that is great news! Now I will continue with prayers as we sure don't want any blood clots or infections or anything like that. So no fishing poles in the hospital Cliff. I think you need to not stare so long at the monitor and just close your eyes to rest them occasionally!

Keep us posted. I know you will take good care of her once she's home!

Glad Marilyn's op went well, Cliff...she'll be up and about again and keeping you on your toes, before you know it! So, you'd better get in some of that fishing done before she does! ;)

Glad things went well. I hadn't checked on blogs in a few days, and was a bit alarmed to pull up yours and read about "the surgeon".
