We Take Prevention Magazine....

For two reasons I think. One, it 'prevents' us from being bored while in the bathroom and two, we like to read about people who exercise. I guess.
This morning I read a short article with the lesson that if you really want to lose weight during a walking program, you absolutely need to step up the pace to 4 miles per hour. So...Speed up.
The second article I read said that some researchers have found that increased exercise can increase your appetite so much that you begin to inhale too many calories and thus you slowly gain weight.... From exercising. Their answer is to slow down your exercising you fool. It will cut your appetite and thus your weight gain.
This points out why education is such a wonderful thing. If I hadn't been able to read at the rate I do, I might have read just the first article. As a result I might have accidentally started an exercise program. And gained more weight. And besides that...I hadn't even consulted my Doctor before starting this alleged exercise program.
"Uh...Doc...Hi this is Cliff, my magazine says to consult a physician before starting any exercise program and well, I'm thinking about doing a sit-up so I need to schedule an appointment."

I remember listening to a lengthy and technical thesis and disertation examining the compounding of the perfect drink. The conclusion was "water". Da!

It's amazing how we over think things, isn't it? Prevention magazine is a good resource for your "library" - and since you've assumed "The Thinker" position already ....

Have a good weekend and safe holiday, Cliff.

I have never understood why men read in the bathroom but I guess it's a man thing. If it weren't for that I guess some would never read at all!

Very funny Cliff. I think you have found the perfect reason not to exercise. We sure don't want to risk a weight gain!! Good thing you did read the whole article. Must have been a lengthy visit........

I'm not on the pot long enough to read one article, let alone two!
It must be because I get free almonds from my mother, and I eat a couple of handfuls each day.
Great roughage!!
I used to exercise like a feind. Now, I exercise moderately three or four times per week. After reading what you posted, I may need to cut it down to once per week, so I will stop eating so much and lose some the extra pounds I'm carrying around. I KNEW there was a reason I was going through so many bags of truffles!
That elliptical trainer should come with a warning.

Hey, just for the fun of it, let's say I walked 95 miles since Aug 8. And then, just for the fun of it, let's say I walked 5.68 miles just today. And once more, for the fun of it, let's say I'm planning a 20-mile walk on Sep 23. Wanna play?

My doctor refuses to take my calls anymore. Every night during the evening news--and more--the commercials tell me to "call your doctor" about this pill or that pill. So I do...er, did. I guess I gotta find another doctor.

It's like a lot of other things. First eggs are bad for you, now they are suppose to be good. Orange juice was good for you, now it suppose to hurt you.
The best thing to do is just set there and read.

Are you sure the rate you are able to read is the reason for your reading both those articles?
I believe the number of articles one reads on the john is more in proportion to the time spent there rather than the reading rate.

I don't care where you read or how quickly Cliff just keep giving us reasons not to exercise and we are with you all the way.

I am not convinced that ANYONE really knows how to successfully and healthily lose weight...either by dieting or exercising. Yes...you can lose both ways, but come on! Who really knows which way is the right way?

Its all so confusing.

Cliff,
You read two magazine articles while on the throne? You really are enjoying this empty nest thing, aren't you?
